Background

I had the privilege of being the therapist at Google, Dublin for 4.5 years up to 2021 – what I would consider a dream job as a therapist.  I have also had the privilege over the past 25 years of working with a diverse range of people from all walks of life including struggling adolescents, people affected by HIV/AIDS, members of the travelling community and long term prisoners in Mountjoy.

I provide wellbeing training services with People Playbook for leading multinational companies including Energia, Ubisoft & TrustPilot, in addition to training for the Education Authority of Northern Ireland and the UCD School of Medicine.

Common presenting issues include anxiety, depression, “feeling stuck”, relational and sexual difficulties.  The Covid years were successfully navigated by many people – but not for all.  Many people experienced real difficulties for a variety of reasons and continue to do so.  I also work with adolescents to help resolve various difficulties such as anxiety, managing social media, exam stress, sexuality, career identity, self-image and motivation.

All work is treated with the strictest confidence, including the fact of inquiring about or attending therapy itself.  I also offer online and vitual forms of counselling using video, chat and Oculus technologies.

My typical style is focussed but informal and can take place inside or outside the consulting rooms or walking in nature if preferred.  I try to minimise the number of sessions required with a view to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for everything from venting, reflecting or ‘dumping’ to reframing, skills-building and engineering optimal mindsets for whatever challenges might be presenting.  Sessions are typically stimulating and rewarding and elicit a tangible sense of hope.
